Why "City 52"?
On 1 March 2022, Southend-on-Sea officially became the 52nd city in England. This status was granted as a permanent tribute to the late Sir David Amess, a champion of our coastal home who believed in its potential more than anyone.
But for us, "52" represents more than just a number on a list. It represents 52 weeks of energy. We believe that Southend isn’t just a summer seaside destination; it is a vibrant, year-round hub for live music, theatre, arts, and community life.
Solving Scattered Information
For too long, finding out what's happening in Southend has meant checking dozens of different websites, social media pages, and notice boards. Great events and venues are missed simply because people don't know they exist.
City 52 acts as the digital glue for the city, bringing independent businesses and residents together in one high-end, easy-to-use space.
